Nangarhar Follow Up Meeting

Key attendees: Provincial Governor advisor Mr. Noor Aqha Zowak, Provincial Councilor Dr. Abdul Qhahaar Lodin, Provincial Councilor Ustad Mohammad Ayob Malik Baba, Head of Department of Public Work Eng. Rasool Gul Faqhir, CEO of Kooz Shikh Mesri United Youth Organization Mr. Ghazi Jan, Head of Provincial Service Sector Mr. Sayed Ahmadshah Saadaat, AYNSO Provincial Chairman Mr. Noor Mohammad Noorani and AYNSO vice chairman Mr. Qhudratullah Shekib.
AYNSO held a meeting on Wednesday March 6, 2013 to follow with the promises made during the town-hall meeting on Monday November 26, 2012. The two major concerns discussed during the town-hall meeting were;
1.    Challenges people have with Behsood Bridge that needs to be rehabilitated.
2.    Challenges of the Internal Displaced and Refugees with the Shikh Mesre Camp
During the town-hall meeting, appointed officials from both of the entities promised to take action in resolving the challenges and elected officials also promised to put into their agenda and work on following with appointed officials to have things done.
Since the Behsood Bridge was the main concern issue discussed at the town-hall meeting and many questions were asked from Eng. Fazil Rabee (Former head of Department of Public Work), as a result, one of the provincial councilor, Eng. Abdul Basir Gulab, who participated to the town-hall meeting began hunger strike until this issue is solved. He put a tent beside Behsood Bridge and an organization working for disabled and number of youths including AYNSO leadership joined him as to support. On the second day of the strike, Provincial Governor Mr. Gulagha Shirzai, MP Faraidoon Mohmand and head of Provincial Council Mr. Aqha Jan came to him and promised him to rehabilitate the bridge and he has to break his strike. After then, Mr. Shirzai contacted president’s chief of party to solve this issue since this bridge is not important to Behsood district but plays a positive role in making the life of the people from Kunar and Nooristan easy too. As a result of this, Minister of Ministry of Public Work came to Nangarhar and found that issue important to be resolved and promised to start practical rehabilitation of the bridge in new solar year. The budget for rehabilitation of this bridge is already approved which will soon go for bidding.
The second concerned issue at the town-hall meeting was the issue of IDPs and Returnees living in Shikh Mesri, which is concerning lack of health, education and other similar issues. The mentioned issues was shared with president’s advisor for citizen’s challenges and complains Mr. Asadullah Wafa and then Mr. Wafa and head of Senate Mr. Fazil Hadi Muslimyar called Minister of Refugees and Returnees Mr. Jamahir Anwari to solve this issue and he promised to resolve the issue soon. This issue was also shared with president’s advisor for rehabilitation and development Mr. Yousuf Pashtoon. Finally, youths conducted a peaceful demonstration in Jalalabad and then in with AYNSO provincial chairman’s interference this issue presented to provincial governor again, which as a result provincial governor tasked his deputy to send an official letter to all ministries strongly requesting to have this issue solved soon.  
Both the reports were evaluated by provincial councilors and agreed to have the follow-up meeting continued until the issues are completely solved. Provincial councilors and other appointed officials
Appreciated AYNSO for the good job the leadership have done. The meeting finally ended at 2:00 after the participants were served the lunch by AYNSO officials.
